Society for Organizational Learning (SoL)

Screen shot - SOL logoSoL, the Society for Organizational Learning, is a network of communities of inquiry and practice focused on concepts, tools, and methodologies that create the capacity for profound innovation and change.

All communities are committed to SoL's principles, but vary in terms of focus, activities, and membership criteria. SoL's minimal infrastructure is designed to provide basic coordination among the communities while allowing for easy movement of people and information throughout the network. Organizational, Consultant, and Research memberships to the SoL community are granted by application and are based on interests and expertise. Individual Connections Membership is open to the public.

SoL was formed in April of 1997 to continue the work of MIT's Center for Organizational Learning (1991-1997). Peter Senge, author of the The Fifth Discipline: the Art and Practice of the Learning Organization is its founding Chairman.

The Partnership Brokers Association offers a series of beginners'  and advanced training courses on partnering skills. Building capacity for local disaster preparedness and economic recovery

19/02/13 is a project funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). European Commission re-thinks its capacity development approach, post-Busan

Building on the principles of the Technical Cooperation Reform (backbone strategy) and the lessons which have been learnt after two years of implementation, the Commission is currently updating its guidance on capacity development to integrate it into its overall Project and Programme Cycle Management guidance (PPCM).

Successful NGOs overcome ‘wicked’ problems. These are critical issues and dilemmas for the whole organisation that have multiple, interdependent causes. Potential solutions are many, but they are seldom obvious or amenable to assured implementation. Yet, effective leadership and management find ways to surmount such problems and motivationally communicate a way forward. This capability is vital for maintaining social value and durability.

CDRA spring immersion course

This unique new 3 week immersion course provides an exploratory and experiential space for learning and sharing that will take participants "on a journey to reignite and infuse passion, inspire and generate creativity, bringing renewed energy to thinking, feeling and doing". The course will provide an “off the map experience” which will encourage you to find and chart your own paths. Participants will draw energy, inspiration and a new impetus to respond appropriately and proactively to the challenges of our times.
