  • Local Governance and Rural Decentralisation – Multi-stakeholder Processes for Institutional Strengthening
  • Participatory Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation – Managing and Learning for Impact
  • Facilitating Multi-stakeholder Processes and Social Learning

There is limited funding available for some of the courses, but please note that much earlier deadlines apply for scholarship applications.

Local Governance and Rural Decentralisation – Multi-stakeholder Processes for Institutional Strengthening
In this interactive course you will learn how to deal with the complexity of governance and the engagement with multiple actors, each with their own ambitions. You will gain increased understanding of your organisation’s current and desired position, roles, and interests in relation to local governance for rural development. You will work with multi-stakeholder and social learning concepts and methodologies for institutional change, and you will learn to reflect on them. The course takes place in February 2012, but the deadline for application for a scholarship is April 29, 2011*. We are especially looking for mid-term professionals.

Participatory Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation – Managing and Learning for Impact
This course focuses on how to manage for impact by integrating strategic guidance, operational management, monitoring and evaluation in a learning environment, whilst navigating the external and internal context. Particular attention is given to designing and institutionalising participatory planning and M&E systems in development initiatives and organisations for continuous learning and enhancing performance. If you are a middle or senior level manager or M&E officer in a business, government or non-government rural development organisation faced with these challenges, this course is for you. The course takes place in March 2012, but if you want to apply for a scholarship, please do so before October 1, 2011*.

Facilitating Multi-stakeholder Processes and Social Learning
Complex problems require innovative solutions. Such solutions are created when diverse stakeholders are able to meet, share experiences, learn together and contribute to decisions. This can be achieved through multi-stakeholder processes (MSPs) and social learning. This course is designed for people who already have a basic understanding of participation, some facilitation experience and have had exposure to participatory methodologies such as Participatory Rura Appraisal or Participatory Learning and Action. The course takes place in September 2011, the deadline for application is August 1 2011.

* For the M&E and Local Governance courses, a limited number of fellowships is available from the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) for nationals of certain countries. For more information, please visit the Fellowships section of the CDI website at the link below.
