APPI-supported initiatives combine bottom-up and top-down approaches to produce policy changes that will promote local development. The bottom-up approach involves participatory, integrated human development planning in selected areas, financed by national and international stakeholders. The top-down approach includes advocacy, training and advice to national and local authorities. All activities are linked through international thematic networks.
