This paper presents the findings of Project GLOBE for the seven countries of the Anglo cluster. This cluster consists of Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa (white sample) and the United States of America. These countries have in common that their national language is predominantly English, that they were all once members of the British empire, and that they all have developed 'western' economies.
It will present a demographic and economic profile of the cluster, discuss the historical foundations of its worldviews, and present GLOBE’s main findings on the cluster’s societal cultures and its major leadership models. The GLOBE results show that the Anglo cluster is characterized by an individualistic performance orientation. Further, although they value gender equality, the Anglo cluster countries tend to be male dominated in practice. Effective leadership in the Anglo cultures is affected by a combination of charismatic inspiration and participative style.
