Leadership

Effective and enabling leadership is increasingly felt to be one of the determining factors of the success and sustainability of development efforts. It may therefore not come as a surprise that a growing number of development organisations is focusing on programmes that stimulate its development. Building on the experiences of western organizational and management practice, they are offering a variety of activities, ranging from short-term training, to on-the-job coaching, to peer-reviews.

This resource corner wishes to provide a comprehensive overview of these different approaches, as well as other key resources on leadership development in different (socio-cultural) contexts. By clicking on the different categories below, or in the menu on the left, you can find out which resources are currently available. New resources will be added on an ongoing basis, so please check regularly for updates.

The 'Short Papers' have been developed exclusively for this resource corner, with the help and advice of a group of development practitioners. They offer an introduction to the topic, and highlight materials in the resource corner.
